Tuesday, February 11th, 2020 marked a very special night for the Lunenburg Tabletop Hockey League. To close out the competitive portion of our milestone fifth season we held a very special event to celebrate the history of the game of table hockey. The LTHL went old school! The Heritage Cup is an event that was almost five years in the making. The entire league was divided into two pools who would compete in the opening match play round. Goals for minus goals against averages were tracked to reduce the chance of tiebreakers. After playing everyone in their pool the top two players in each pool with the best win-loss records would advance to the Playoff Bracket. The Playoff Bracket contains a single elimination game. The winners of each bracket would advance to the Championship Series which would be contested in a best of three game series. Games were played on a vintage 1959 Eagle Games table and a 1981 Sportcraft table. Each table has unique features that both challenged and provided a fresh atmosphere for players. It was a very successful event and the LTHL will be looking to bring the event back as an annual tradition.
