FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
JULY 24th, 2018
Lunenburg, NS - This fall the fun and excitement of the Lunenburg Tabletop
Hockey League returns! The LTHL kicks off its fourth season this October and
it’s building up to be one of the most exciting seasons yet.
Players can register for the 2018-2019 season starting Saturday, September 29th.
There will be a special registration/meet and greet session for players
starting at 2 PM. This session will allow new players to meet returning players.
New players can also learn the rules and regulations of the LTHL while playing
in practice games. Registration is open to anyone over the age of 16. If you’re
on the fence about joining the league feel free to come try out the tables free
of charge before you decide on joining. Registration is $30 for the entire
season and will take place in the garage at 758 Northwest Road.
After heavy consideration it has been decided that for the first time ever the
LTHL Awards ceremony will take place right before the start of the upcoming
season. On Tuesday, October 9th at 6:30 PM the LTHL will be hosting
a special evening featuring the 2018 LTHL Awards, the 2018-2019 LTHL Draft and
lineup of preseason games. After the awards are handed out, all of the captains
from the previous season will draft their teams. Every player will get a taste
of competition as they face off in a series of preseason games in a prelude to the
regular season.
On Tuesday, October 16th at 6:30 PM the 2018-2019 season officially
kicks off. The original six teams begin their quest for the LTHL Championship. The
night will begin with the opening ceremony and introduction. Each team will
participate in four games each week. The popular and exciting “King of the Hill”
game returns for its third straight season and will finish off each week. King
of the Hill is the fast paced and intense twist on your regular game of table
hockey. It’s every player pitted against each other in a gauntlet style melee.
Each player draws a number that determines their order of entry into the game.
Players one and two start first and when one player is scored on, they are
eliminated from the game and replaced by the player who drew the next number.
This continues until the last player standing who will win the match and wear
the prestigious crown. Points are awarded for eliminations and tallied up for
the entire season. The player with the most points at the end of the season
will be crowned the King of the Hill for the season.
The LTHL All-Star Game and Skills Competition will return this season! Every
member of the league is eligible for the Skills Competition. Players will
compete in a series of events testing their skills that apply in actual table
hockey matches. It provides lots of fun and challenge for everyone. The LTHL
All-Star Game will once again feature the top four players in the league. The
four players with the best win/loss record after eight weeks in the regular
season will qualify for the All Star Game. Players ranked first and fourth will
team up and face off against players ranked second and third in a best two out
of three game series featuring the best in the league. It’s a night you don’t
want to miss.
For the first time ever the LTHL will be hosting a Christmas special this
season. Tuesday, December 19th marks week nine and the last night
before the league enters the holiday break. On this special night all players
are encouraged to wear their favorite ugly Christmas sweater. A vote will take
place with a prize going to the player with the most votes for best ugly sweater. Christmas treats and refreshments will also
be provided on this special night.
The league will resume on Tuesday, January 8th, 2019 with week ten
of the regular season. January 22nd will mark the final night of the
regular season with week twelve. The top two teams at the end of the regular season
earn a bye into the semifinal round of the Playoffs. The opening round of the
2018-2019 Playoffs will begin on Tuesday January 29th with the
Championship finals taking place on February 12th. The season will
conclude on Tuesday, February 19th with the 2019 LTHL Awards.
The Lunenburg Tabletop Hockey League is looking for sponsors for the upcoming
season. The game boards and equipment get wore down over an entire season and
require maintenance each year which can cost a large sum of money. Sponsorship
from local businesses can really help out the league while in return provide a
platform for businesses to get their name out to the public. The LTHL is
willing to provide advertising on its official website, Facebook page and
sponsor board that will be displayed at league events for the price of $30.
This money would really help out the league. If you or anyone you know might be
interested in helping out the league please contact the LTHL through one of the

About the Lunenburg Tabletop Hockey League
The LTHL was established during the summer of 2015 looking to provide a new
recreational activity to the Lunenburg area. The LTHL’s goal is to bring back the love of
tabletop hockey which has been a long running tradition in Canadian households
dating back to the 1930’s. The league takes place on Tuesday nights during the
fall and winter months using a format similar to the National Hockey League.
The original six teams compete on STIGA brand tabletop game boards attempting
to earn their place in the postseason. Trophies and other awards are given out
at the end of the season. You can follow
